Huawei launches new Y9 Prime 2019
Posted by Raphael Leynes July 03, 2019

Huawei has just launched the new Y9 Prime 2019, a powerful new smartphone that doesn’t sacrifice technology for affordability.

Let’s run the numbers. The Huawei Prime 2019 comes with 4GB RAM and 128GB ROM, Powered by the 12nm Kirin 710F, 4000 mAh battery, a USB Type-C port, a fingerprint sensor and 3.5mm headset jack. It runs on the minimalistic and user friendly EMUI 9 which is based on the Android Pie.

The big star feature for the Huawei Prime Y9 2019 is the new pop up selfie camera that emerges from the phone’s chassis when you activate selfie mode. The new innovation is more than just a gimmick as it allows for a notch-less configuration that frees up every bit of the glorious 6.5 inch screen! This allows users to enjoy all that real estate (which takes up 91% of the front surface) for games and media consumption unobstructed and unimpeded. The 16MP Pop Selfie Camera is also AI assisted to recognize 8 different subjects and scenery and adjusts its settings accordingly.  The pop up camera is also surprisingly durable. In the presentation video at the launch, it was shown to be able to hold up to 15 lbs for weight without breaking or getting misshapen.

In addition to the pop up camera, the Y9 comes equipped with a 16MP+8MP+2MP triple camera set up. Both the 16MP and the 8MP camera make use of the 6P (Six lens array) design which helps in with capturing fine details, light intake which in turn makes for better resolution and contrasts in your photos.

The 8MP sensor camera also has an ultra wide angle feature that is seldom seen in phones in this price range. This allows the Huawei Prime Y9 2019 to take gorgeous 120° wide angle shots of sweeping landscapes and incredible skylines.

Finally, the rear camera set up has a host of nifty little tools that help you capture moments in better and more dynamic ways. With the help of the 2MP sensor you can give your photos that artistic and professional looking bokeh effect. The slow motion feature on the camera allows you to slow down moments that happen for a spilt second in 480 frames immortalizing it in all its glory. There’s also the Night mode feature that helps illuminate dark or badly lit scenes so you dont have to worry about the quality of pictures you take on a night out in the town or camping in the wilds at night.

The Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 retails at 12,990 PHP and will be available in Midnight Black, Sapphire Blue and Emerald Green in all Huawei Stores and partner retailers nationwide. Pre-orders will begin on July 5 until July 12 with availing consumers receiving a premium Bluetooth speaker worth 1790 PHP.
