The Arena of Valor World Cup (AWC) 2019, the much-awaited Arena of Valor international tournament, will be held in Da Nang, Vietnam from late June to mid-July.

Following its success in its inaugural tournament held in Los Angeles, USA, the tournament will now feature 12 teams from nine regions. These regions include Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore/Malaysia/Philippines, Korea, America/Europe, Mainland China, and Japan. AWC 2019 marks the first appearance from Japan since the introduction of the Japanese server in November 2018.

Each team has earned their spot in the tournament through a regional qualifier.

The champion of the tournament will take home a good chunk of the prize pool at USD 200,000. While the first runner-up will take home USD 110,000 and USD 50,000 for the 3rd and fourth place winners.

The tournament will also introduce and implement a “Global Ban Pick” mode from the knockout stage onwards. This rule allows a team to play a hero once per series. This encourages hero pick diversity and more exciting games for spectators.

Representing the Malaysia/Singapore/Philippines region is the Malaysian squad, Team M8HEXA after beating out Ikan Masin, Liyab Esports, and Bren Esports in Valor Cup Season 4. The team also placed first during the Malaysian Esports Selection 2019 for SEA Games last weekend.
