Blizzard announces the Final Teams and start of Overwatch League Season One

Last July, Blizzard announced the first seven teams to sign in to the upcoming Overwatch League. Now, the League’s final teams are set! Season One of the Overwatch League will feature 12 teams, with the final three being based in Philadelphia, Dallas, and Houston.

Here is the final list of 12 teams/cities for the Overwatch League:

Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, New York, Boston, Seoul, Shanghai, Los Angeles #2, London, Philadelphia, Houston, and Dallas.

Of the last three teams, two were bought in by established esports organizations. The Philadelphia slot was picked up by Comcast Spectacor, who are also the owners of the Philadelphia Flyers hockey team.

The Dallas spot meanwhile, was bought in by Hersh Interactive Group, the main investor in Team EnVyUs.

Finally, the Houston slot was picked up by OpTic Gaming.

Blizzard announcement did not end with the complete list of teams, as they’ve finally confirmed the starting date of the Overwatch League. The preseason will start on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Blizzard Arena Los Angeles. The preseason will feature the League teams who will play in exhibition matches.

The season proper will start on Wednesday, January 10, 2018; the regular season games will run until June, while the playoffs and finals will be played on July.
