Five Video Games You Can Give Your Friends and Family This Christmas
Posted by Martin Patino November 30, 2019

The Christmas season is in full swing and many have already begun buying gifts for their family and friends to avoid the inevitable Christmas rush and the hordes of cars and people that go with it. To make your Christmas shopping a bit easier, we’ve made a shortlist of five video games you could pick through to find the perfect gift for your gamer friend or family member. We’ve limited the list to games that were released in the second half of the year to lessen the chance that the title is something you friend or family member has already played.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses (Nintendo Switch) – Released on July 26, 2019

Three Houses is undeniably one of the best games that came out on the Nintendo Switch this year, featuring an epic story, interesting characters, and enjoyable gameplay. It would be the perfect gift for anyone who has previously played a Fire Emblem game or JRPG (Japanese role-playing game).

Pokemon Sword and Shield (Nintendo Switch) – Released on November 15, 2019

Pokemon Sword and Shield are the latest entries in the long-running mega franchise and first installments of the series’ eighth generation. While initially criticised before its launch, it was received mostly positively afterwards. If your friend or family member already has one version of the game, then you can get them the other for access to more Pokemon.

Death Stranding (PlayStation 4) – Released on November 8, 2019

Death Stranding is the latest game from legendary game producer and director Hideo Kojima, known for his work in the Metal Gear series. The game’s confusing and mysterious narrative and gameplay have pushed some people to hold off on buying it so giving it to them as a gift will give them the opportunity to try it without the financial investment.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC) – Released on November 15, 2019

There hasn’t been an amazing Star Wars game in quite awhile so it’s positively surprising that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order from Apex Legends and Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment has been received favorably by both players and critics. Fans of action-adventure games as well as fans of Dark Souls-type games will definitely enjoy this.

The Outer Worlds (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC)

The Outer Worlds from Obsidian Entertainment was one of the more surprising releases this year. The sci-fi first-person RPG takes significant gameplay influences from the popular Fallout franchise and has so far been received positively by both fans and critics. Fans of the modern Fallout games as well as fans of first-person RPGs will definitely enjoy this original title.
