John “TotalBiscuit” Bain passes away at age 33

Today is a sad day for the whole video game community as video game critic and caster John “Totalbiscuit” Bain has passed away after years of fighting cancer. Bain passed away at the age of 33, and the news was broken by his wife, Genna Bain in a Twitter post.

Totalbiscuit, also known The Cynical Brit, was diagnosed with colon cancer in April 2014. Things looked positive after a year, as Bain reported that the cancer was in remission after chemotherapy treatments, though the cancer resurfaced just a few months after.

After going through more treatments, Bain announced in November 2017 that chemotherapy had stopped working. In April of 2018, Bain retired fully from gaming criticism, and instead focused on his Co-Optional podcast with his wife. His plans were sadly cut short with his passing.

For those not familiar with Totalbiscuit’s work, he became known for being a caster for games such as StarCraft 2 and Planetside 2. He is also popular for his YouTube channel where he publishes video game reviews and other video game-related content.

One of Totalbiscuit’s most well-known video series is the “WTF is…”. In these videos, Bain introduces a certain video game, and gives his first impressions on them.

Totalbiscuit may have been a polarizing figure in the video game community, given that he has received criticism for his persona in his videos, but his loss is certainly one that will be felt by video game fans around the world.
