MDL Macau SEA: TNC qualifies for their first Dota Minor, defeats Mineski 2-1

TNC finally qualified for their first Dota 2 Minor for the 2017 Dota Pro Circuit by defeating Mineski 2-1 at the MarsTV Dota League (MDL) Macau Southeast Asia Qualifier.

Mineski started really strong in the BO3 Grand Final, utterly destroying TNC Pro Team come Game 1. The early game went perfectly well for Mineski, with Anucha “Jabz” Jirawong’s rotations with the support Tiny made it possible for Chai “Mushi” Yee Fung’s Vengeful Spirit to snowball out of control. With amazing connections in their team-fights, Mineski were able to gain complete control of the mid-game and eventually steam roll over TNC. After just 27 minutes, Mineski were at match point to qualify for another LAN.

However, TNC just returned the favor come Game 2. This time, TNC‘s draft was very much effective as they were able to get Phantom Lancer and Terrorblade as their cores — and the last picked Timbersaw was the only one available for Mineski to deal with it. Though  Daryl Koh “iceiceice” Pei Xiang showed an outstanding Timbersaw game, the rest of Mineski‘s draft (particularly the Position 1 Lifestealer) just couldn’t handle the massive illusion army from TNC.  Mineski were able to keep the game close in terms of networth for 30 minutes, but they eventually succumbed to the overwhelming tempo that TNC played in. It took TNC 30 minutes to tie the series 1-1.

Game 3 went down the wire with both teams winning their fair share of skirmishes across the game. Although TNC had the much better start, controlling  Kam “Moon” Boon Seng’s Tinker very well to a point that his Boots of Travel only reached him by 15:20. Chai “Mushi” Yee Fung’s Sven had a good performance but he can only do so much against  Marc Polo Luis Raven Fausto’s Terrorblade that went ham from minute zero.

It also took a heroic play-making from Samson Solomon Sam_H Hidalgo’s Nyx Assassin to stop Mineski from a potential turn around. With his three-man and four-man Impale connections in an extended team-fight heavily punished Mineski‘s aggression around the 38 minute mark. By then, Mineski couldn’t anymore find the openings to go high ground once again, even after leading in objectives by one barracks.

Though leading in terms of networth, pushing high ground wasn’t easy for TNC. Finally, they figured that they can out-maneuver Mineski by a masterful split-push tactic, working around the Io relocate and Terrorblade Metamorphosis (with Refresher Shard and Refresher Orb). After 1 hour of intense Dota action, TNC prevail against Mineski and successfully earned their spot for the MDL Macau Dota Minor.
