CS:GO league-format tourneys are always fun to watch, as viewers get to see their favorite teams battle it out regularly every week. One such tourney is the ESL Pro League, which is now on its sixth season. League play has recently ended for season six in both the North American and European legs; and the 12 teams to move on to the ESL Pro League Finals have been determined.
For the NA Leg of ESL Pro League Season 6, OpTic Gaming surprised most everyone as they ended league play in first place. Coming in second place just behind them is Brazilian team SK Gaming. Rounding out the top six are Team Liquid, NRG Esports, Misfits, and Luminosity Gaming.
OpTic’s great performance in season six means that their new lineup, featuring former Magisk, allu, and friberg is working wonders. SK Gaming’s second place finish isn’t a surprise, given that they’re one of the more consistent teams in the region. What’s surprising is Luminosity and Misfits’ top six finishes; though this means that NA fan favorites Cloud9 and Brazilian squad Immortals failed to move on.
For the European leg, Fnatic took the top spot at the end of league play. Following close behind is North in 2nd, FaZe Clan in 3rd, and Astralis in 4th. Rounding out the top six are teams Ninjas in Pyjamas and PGL Major-winners HellRaisers at 5th and 6th respectively.
It seems that the Swedes are back, as Fnatic and NiP both finished in the top six, along with the consistent Danish teams (North and Astralis) and FaZe Clan. PGL Major champs HellRaisers only barely made it to the top six, as they ended with the same 13-13 record as ESL Season 5 winners G2 Esports. HellRaisers just had more points which meant that they clinched sixth.
The ESL Pro League Season 6: Finals stage will happen from December 5 to December 10, 2017 at Odense, Denmark. The 12 remaining teams will fight for the lion’s share of the USD 750,000 prize pool — with USD 225,00 being awarded to the 1st place team.
