Predator Philippines cements partnership with MMA promotion ONE Championship

Predator, the gaming brand under Acer, has been on a roll. Last year, it sponsored local DOTA 2 team TNC Pro, and released the Predator 21 X at this year’s CES. This time around, the brand set it sights to a bigger audience: mixed martial arts, or MMA.

Predator Philippines has partnered with MMA promotion ONE Championship, responsible for bringing local talent to a grander fighting stage. Currently, the promotion’s Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight championships are held by Pinoys Eduard “Landslide” Folayang and Brandon “The Truth” Vera, respectively.

The Truth was present during the media announcement event concerning the partnership, and showed off a few basic MMA moves, including how to properly execute a rear-naked choke together with MMA legend Rich “Ace” Franklin. Vera and Franklin also played a few rounds of Overwatch using Predator rigs found at High Ground Cafe in Tomas Morato.

While one might wonder what the connection between gaming and MMA is, Ray Gozon, Predator Philippines’ Senior Marketing Manager, said that the link is quite clear.

“Serious gamers have intense skill, focus, and fury if the are to destroy their enemies. This is Why ONE Championship is the perfect partner for us – ONE Championship fights and fighters embody the intensity that our gamers experience on Predator machines.”

Predator has unveiled their flagship 21 X gaming laptop last CES 2017, and is not for the faint of heart. Part concept, part over the top, the 21 X pushes the boundaries of what it means to have a laptop gaming setup.

Predator Philippines is the official partner of ONE: KINGS OF DESTINY. Eduard Folayang is scheduled to go up against Ev Ting for the Light Heavyweight Championship. Folayang is joined by other Team Lakay fighters on the card this Friday, April 21 at 6PM.
