Something “Fantastic” coming to Spider-Man PS4; Here are our 4 best guesses!
Posted by Raphael Leynes on January 10, 2019

In a livestream called Fantastic Four: World’s Greatest Week!, Ryan Penagos, Vice President and Creative executive for Marvel has revealed that something “fantastic” might be coming to Spider-Man PS4 very soon:

“Something ‘fantastic’ is coming to Marvel’s Spider-Man real soon. I can’t tell you anything more right now…but you’ll want to keep an eye out for this. It’s going to be amazing and fantastic”

With all three of the paid DLC content for the game’s season pass already out, we can only assume this slight hint at the Fantastic Four to mean a more minute addition to the game like the much-awaited Raimi Suit release last month. This can only mean a couple of things about to come to Spider-Man PS4 featuring Marvel’s first family. Here are our best guesses:

The Baxter Building

What it is: The home and base of operations of the Fantastic Four, The Baxter Building has been conspicuously missing from Spider-Man PS4’s New York skyline since the game’s release. For a game that has familiar locales and easter eggs such as the Avengers Tower, Dr. Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum, and the Defenders’ usual hangouts, the Baxter Building seemed like a giant omission. This new DLC could rectify all that.

Likelihood: Adding the Baxter Building seems like any easy inclusion. Then again, I know about programming or game design just as much as the Rhino would know about quantum physics. It’s not a lot y’all.

Bombastic Bag-Man

What it is: When Spider-Man went to consult Reed Richards a.k.a Mister Fantastic about his then mysterious black spider suit (which was secretly the symbiote called Venom) Spidey had to take off the suit and wear something else to have it checked. By donning a spare Fantastic Four suit and a paper bag to cover his face Peter Parker assumed the heroic mantle of the Bombastic Bag-Man!

Likelihood: This is our most likely candidate as the Bombastic Bag-Man Suit is a crowd favorite among Spidey fans. It’s also been included in a bunch of previous Spidey games in the past so we might be due for a next gen reincarnation. I for one can’t wait to see how the physics will work on Spidey’s impromptu paper mask as he’s swinging through the streets of New York.

Future Foundation Spider-Man

What it is: When Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch died (don’t worry folks he came back BECAUSE COMICS) Reed Richards, Sue Richards and Ben Grimm decided to gather the World’s brightest minds and form the Future Foundation in an effort to solve all of the World’s problems. The Future Foundation Spidey suit shares the stylish white and black aestaesth of the other members and is made of unstable particles that shape and reform according to the wearers wishes.

Likelihood: This is the second most likely candidate to appear in the game seeing as there’s quite a lot of lore attached to it-even a pivotal death of a major character. Then again its not like that’s swayed insomniac before (looking at you Ghost Spider) The clean white look and black trim could also be a welcome addition to the colorful and quirky set of suits that Spidey already has access to.

The Fantastic Spider-Man

What is it: Spidey wore this little gem when he was first called in by the Fantastic Four before the events of Future Foundation. I can’t say that the suit look particulary awesome, though. The Black Mask ans the blue FF duds aren’t exactly an appealing mix.

Likelihood: It’s highly unlikely that they choose this suit over the other two in this list. If Insomniac does indeed include this one, let’s hope their artists translate it into a much cooler design like how they done with the Spider-Punk and the Velocity suits in the base game.
