Evo 2019 is only a few weeks away and the organizers have finally announced the schedule of the final matches for each event’s nine feature titles. In a tweet posted yesterday, Evo President Joey Cuellar announced that the last day of the tournament would see the finals of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate close out the event, a position that has been held by Street Fighter for more than 10 years.
The Sunday Finals day, which will be held Mandalay Bay Event Center and is ostensibly the biggest day of the event, will host the finals of the BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, and Tekken 7 tournaments before the aforementioned Smash Ultimate finals.

As for the rest of the event’s main tournaments, Saturday Finals will host the finals of UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH Exe:Late[st], Dragon Ball FighterZ, Samurai Shodown, and Mortal Kombat 11, while the finals of Soulcalibur 6 will be held on Friday.
The decision to close out the event with Smash Ultimate could have been influenced by the game’s record-breaking registration numbers. It was the most registered title in the event, with 3492 competitors, followed by SFV with 1929 and Tekken 7 with 1885. Surprisingly, one of the other Sunday Finals tournaments, BBTAG, had the least registrants at only 640.
