Samsung Galaxy are your League of Legends 2017 World Champions!

The third seed from South Korea shocks the world as they dethroned three-time champions, SK Telecom T1 with a clean 3-0 sweep in the BO5 series of the 2017 World Championship Finals.

Despite looking like the weakest team from South Korea as the Group Stage concluded, Samsung Galaxy showed up when it counted. In the quarterfinals, they swept the top seed from South Korea, Longzhu Gaming; the team that were considered to be the biggest challenge that could contest the defending champions. The hometown favorites, Team WE was the last team that stood between Samsung and finals. After an exciting four games, the South Koreans booked their ticket to Beijing for the rematch of last year’s finals.

The third seed from South Korea showed their familiar team fighting playstyle in the Finals and this gave them the edge in all three games of an thrilling Finals.

Not only is Samsung Galaxy the first team to take down SK Telecom T1 in international history since Edward Gaming in the 2015 Mid-Season Invitational but they’re also the only team to sweep the three-time champions on an international stage.

The two years of struggling through the League of Legends Champions Korea and handling the loss of last year finally paid off for CuVee, Ambition, Crown, Ruler, CoreJJ and the rest of the Samsung Galaxy organization as they complete the impossible and take their place as champions of the League of Legends World Championship.
