TNC’s TI Championship dream is dead as they fall vs. OG 0-2

After an excellent showing at the Group Stage, TNC Pro Team’s The International 2017 run and championship dreams have come to an end. In a rematch of their legendary series against OG, it was OG this time that won the series 2-0. OG dominated TNC in both games, as the Pinoy squad just had no answers for JerAx’s Earth Spirit and s4‘s Legion Commander for Games 1 and 2 respectively.

Game 1

TNC started off hot with an two early kills on s4’s Centaur Warrunner. TNC continued to find kills throughout the early game, with Kuku getting a triple kill 7 minutes in. OG found kills of their won shortly after, and the kill score was tied 7-7 12 minutes in.

In the mid game, ana’s Invoker pulled away in net worth, thanks to successful ganks by the team. TNC tried a gank on top at the 16-minute mark, but OG countered them well with JerAx’s Earth Spirit, and OG won the fight 3-0. Both teams played a bit defensively after the gank, with the next major skirmish ocurring 23 minutes in. TNC killed JerAx’s Earth Spirit, but they lost Kuku and Sam_H in the process.

The next fight occured 28 minutes in, OG tried a smoke gank, but TNC turned it around and killed Notail’s Necrophos. OG got kills of their own after, and the long teamfight ended with a 4-4 trade. After the fight, OG killed Roshan and took Aegis, and they transitioned into a high ground push ending in them taking down TNC’s Melee barracks.

With TNC on the back foot, they tried to go for a desperation team fight, but OG’s heroes proved too tanky to burst down. OG’s lead grew too much for TNC to handle, and the Pinoy squad called GG at the 36-minute mark.

Game 2 opened with a bad start from TNC, as Kuku’s OD gave up first blood before the creeps spawned. But TNC found kills soon after, and the kill score was 2-2 under a minute in. The laning stage went well for OG, as they found more kills on TNC’s heroes. OG had fairly large gold and experience lead 10 minutes in.

TNC tried to force skirmishes in the mid game, but OG turned most of the ganks around. TNC finally got a good engagement at the 16-minute mark, as they took down Notail and Ana’s Naga and TA. The Pinoy squad transitioned the good fight into a mid tower push, and they killed more of OG’s heroes in doing so. OG answered with a gank a few minutes after, but TNC salvaged the bad engagement, and they ended the fight with a 2-2 trade.

OG went aggressive again moments after, and they were more successful this time. S4 got a triple kill on his Legion Commander, with OG getting a total of 4 kills at the fight’s end. As TNC was in a desperate situation, they smoke ganked OG at the 24-minute mark, but OG again got the best of them, as the EU team wiped out TNC.

OG’s gold and experience lead skyrocketed after the successive team fights, and they destroyed TNC’s mid and bottom barracks. But OG overextended in their top high ground push 32-minutes in, leading to 4 kills in favor of TNC. TNC’s hopes were quickly dashed in the next minutes, as OG just dominated the next set of fights. OG’s lead proved too much for Pinoys to handle, and TNC called GG 39 minutes in.

TNC’s loss is not the worst result for the team though, as their 9-12th place still netted them $361,202 USD (or around 17.8 million PHP).
