What we expect from Blizzcon 2019
Posted by Ram Ronquillo on November 02, 2019

With just a few hours before Blizzcon 2019 opens, we’re expecting quite a lot of exciting announcements from Blizzard.

Blizzcon is Blizzard’s annual convention where the company presents the latest news and updates regarding their beloved titles like World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, Diablo, and Overwatch.

This year will be crucial for the company especially after it went from controversy to controversy throughout the year. As fans of the franchise ourselves, we’ll be watching and hoping to hear some exciting news from the company.

Out of the different games from Blizzard, Diablo has the most rumors and leaks that point to the fourth installment, Diablo 4. The game was, to some extent, hoped to be announced last year, instead, we got the mobile game version. We know how that went.

The multiple leaks of the art book of the fourth installment of the Diablo franchise make it more believable that this may be the year that the company announces it.

Another leaked title we expect to see at the convention is Overwatch 2. Kotaku hinted at this earlier this year but we’ve also seen ESPN report on the game as well.

Overwatch 2 according to the ESPN story is said to have new game mode, maps, heroes, and PvE features. They also mention that both the PvE story and new game mode will be available for BlizzCon attendees.

We may not be at BlizzCon physically but a new Overwatch with PvE and an actual story just sounds exciting.

Along with Diablo and Overwatch 2, we’re expecting the company to announce a new expansion for World of Warcraft. Battle for Azeroth has come to a close with the Horde and Alliance confronting Sylvanas and a new expansion just makes a lot more sense.

Based on how Battle for Azeroth came to a close, we might see the upcoming expansion revolve around the Old Gods and the Shadowlands. N’Zoth has just been awakened and his next move will be exciting, to say the least. While Sylvanas and her talk of death make the Shadowlands likely as well.

The player base of retail World of Warcraft has dropped especially after the release of World of Warcraft Classic and announcing a new expansion may just pique the interest of old and new players.

Lastly, we’re expecting to see exciting games from the various esports tournaments at the convention. We’re excited to see how the Philippine team will perform at the Overwatch World Cup 2019.
