Game studio 343 Industries has released new information regarding what updates we can expect for Halo 5: Guardians, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and Halo Wars 2 in a recently concluded livestream.
343 announced that Halo 5: Guardians will be getting a massive content update this November, in time for the release of the new Xbox One X. The Overtime update will feature 4K graphical enhancements for owners of the beefed up 12-teraflop Xbox, updated weapon tuning, and the re-inclusion of the fan favorite Oddball multiplayer mode. New player skins will also be deployed post-patch.
Among other features, the content update will also introduce the Local Server application, which will allow users to host a local server on a Windows 10 desktop PC on the same network as Xbox One consoles for low-latency multiplayer matches. The new app will be a big game changer for Halo eSports events.
Halo Wars 2 will also get Xbox One X graphical upgrades. Additionally, the update will allow crossplay between Xbox One and Windows 10 desktops.
The Xbox Arena mode will also be thrown into the mix, which will allow players to organize and run their own online tournaments. Though Xbox Arena launched in May, Windows 10 crossplay will be deployed for Halo Wars 2 later this month.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection won’t be left out as the collection will also receive an Xbox One X patch. Little has been revealed about the update for The Master Chief Collection, but we’ll fill you in on all the details when more information surfaces.
Big things are on the horizon for the professional Halo eSports scene as 343 announced the Halo World Championship 2018. The World Championship will have qualifiers in Europe, Australia, South America, and North America. If you’re keen on seeing the world’s best Halo players in action, tune into the Halo Championship Series Fall 2017 Finals this weekend live on Mixer and Twitch. In addition to that, the Microsoft Store Tournament Program will be even bigger. As a result, every Microsoft Store will host Halo 5: Guardians tournaments starting next month. The store tournaments will commence on November 6 through March 2018. Now might be a good time to get your hands dirty on Halo 5: Guardians, depending on where you are in the world.
