As a treat for this Independence Day, we rounded up the best and the brightest examples of our amazing Pinoy-made contributions to the videogame world that you absolutely need to play!


Garrison: Archangel

If you like stylish and fast-paced mech-on-mech action then look no further than Garrison Archangel. The game lets you build and kit out your dream mecha with a whole Big Zam full of customization options from weapons for every situation to booster rockets and giant shields. Bayani: Kanino Ka Kakampi is probably the most unique fighting game ever created. It features reimagined versions of our Philippine national heroes like Joe Rizal, Tonio Luna, and Oria Jesús duking it out with crazy over-the-top moves! They’ve also tapped the one and only Ryan “Filipino Champ” Ramirez, as well as other local fighting game stalwarts to consult on the game to refine the gameplay and as well as make it a ton of fun to play!

If you thought bullet hell games were bad just wait until you play one with JUST. ONE. BUTTON. That’s right, Good Knight is a one-button bullet hell shooter that’s just as frantic, challenging and BUTT CLENCHING (their words not mine) as its sounds! With just one button you guide your little knight around a variety of different circular arenas as you try to avoid a slew of bullets, swords, and anything else the little ghouls, ghosts, and demons can throw at you. Look out for this one as it’s coming out very soon in Q4 2020 to a nightmarish metal hellscape near you!

Lithium City

We’ve had an eye on Lithium City for a while now and it’s not that hard to see why. The game is absolutely gorgeous featuring brilliantly designed levels all draped in a stylized neon minimalist aesthetic. In action, Lithium City’s combat is equal part frenetic and powerful but also sleek and cool. To top it all off, this is the magnum opus of just one man! We’re sure to dive headfirst into this once it comes out on June 16, 2020

Project Xandata

Developer: The Studio of Secret6, Inc.

Project Xandata is one of those things that gets better and better every time we see it again. Xandata is an interesting first-person shooter that equal parts hero shooter and team deathmatch. Players can kit out and customize their character with different types of loadouts, weapons as well as pick their class to frag out with the best of them. There’s no definite launch date yet but we fully expect that the next time we see this game, it’s going to blow our socks off. Again!
