Diablo Immortal is Getting the Crusader Class in New Closed Alpha
Posted by Raphael Leynes April 30, 2021

The pint-sized pocket version of Blizzard’s looter RPG, Diablo Immortal is having another alpha! Following the success of its Technical Alpha earlier this year, the closed alpha introduces a demon’s hoard worth of new content such as two new zones, new features, and our first look at the Crusader class! The Closed Alpha also gives us a bigger glimpse into its endgame content for its most stalwart warriors of Sanctuary by introducing a PvP system called the Cycle of Strife as well as and raising the level cap from the previous 45 to 55!

A New Class is in Session

In addition to the four classes available in the Technical Alpha–Monk, Demon Hunter, Barbarian, and Wizard–the Closed Alpha lets us get our first look at the Immortal’s Crusader class. This mid-range, caster/melee juggernaut is armed with deadly flails and impenetrable thicc boy armor striking fear into the demons and heretics of Sanctuary. Seeing as we’ve played all the other classes in the previous Alpha, we wager we’ll be spending the most time with the Crusader this time around.

Through Hellfire, Sleet, or Snow

The Diablo Immortal Closed Alpha will also feature two new Zones to roam and rid of hellspawn: Mount Zavain and the Frozen Tundra

Mount Zavain lies deep in the heart of the Tamoe mountains and is the home of the Monks, who are among Sanctuary’s most deadly warriors and vicious Khazra Goat men that lie in ambush at seemingly every corner.

The Frozen Tundra is the icy war-torn wastes around the great mountain of Arreat, where the Lord of Destruction lies in wait for the perfect moment to once again ravage the world. Here, the Barbarian tribes fend off the remnants of Baal’s army but it is hard to tell if they can hold on for much longer if they continue to fight divided and isolated.

Divine Checks and Balances

The biggest gameplay addition is definitely the PvP System called the Cycle of Strife. In the Cycle, the realm’s most vaunted heroes can become one of the Immortals, the most hallowed and sacred protectors of Sanctuary. Keeping the Immortals in check are another playable faction of heroes called the Shadows, who make sure the Immortal s never stray from their sacred right and duty often intervening where they see fit. Each faction has a different set of quests and tasks that correspond to the dangerous dance of their respective purposes.

We’ll be running around in the Closed Alpha soon trying out all the new stuff the Immortal team has added and we’ll be giving you the low down on the whole experience as always so look out for that in a future article!
