The holiday season is in full swing and with the many games that have come out in the past months alone, it’s tough to figure out what to focus on in the break. We’ve decided to pick five games that we think you’ll enjoy and maybe worth your time throughout the holiday season.
We have chosen a variety of games across PC, mobile, and console for this list. We’ve also decided to narrow it down to games that were released within the past month or two.
Marvel Super War is a new mobile MOBA (Mobile Online Battle Arena) that uses the different characters from the Marvel Universe. It features heroes like Captain America, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Iceman, and Spiderman as well as villains like Corvus Glaive, Ebony Maw, Magneto, Sandman and so much more.
Marvel is pretty big right now which makes it a pretty easy game to pick up. In addition, almost everyone plays or has played Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, which makes learning a new mobile MOBA easier to digest.
It doesn’t necessarily need to replace your main mobile MOBA but can be a good palate cleanser for when things get a bit salty.
Marvel Super War can be downloaded for free on the Google Play Store.
From mobile, we move to the Nintendo Switch. The revolutionary console from Nintendo has brought quite a lot of games but we’ll be including two (technically three) that were recently released. These are Pokemon Sword and Shield and Ring Fit Adventure.
We’re kind of cheating with this one but hey, these two ought to be good for the holidays.
Pokemon Sword/Shield is your typical Pokemon game and if you’re like us, it was the game that actually got you really interested in the console itself. What better time to hunker down and sink in the many many hours exploring the Britain-inspired Galar region, collecting all the Pokemon (and maybe breeding to get super 6 IV Pokemon), and cooking up the many curries.
Ring Fit Adventure is a unique game that uses the Nintendo Switch Joycons and to register physical actions to move in the game. It is a fun workout that’ll keep you active and fit throughout the holiday season and then some.
It is better suited for the regular Switch though. The Switch Lite users may be able to use it if you have Joycons but the smaller screen and no kickstand will be quite the hassle.
Black Desert Mobile is a new mobile MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) based on the desktop MMORPG, Black Desert Online.
Black Desert Mobile offers quite the depth in customization of characters, albeit the different classes are gender locked. Speaking of classes, Black Desert Mobile currently has five classes – Warrior, Ranger, Witch, Giant, Valkyrie. Each of which will cater to different playstyles. In addition, the game has quite a lot to do from grinding levels and gear to picking up various materials and managing your camp.
The game is sure to keep you busy throughout the holiday season and probably beyond that.
Death Stranding is Hideo Kojima’s first game after his departure from Konami. The much-awaited title has looked curious, to say the least.
The game is about reconnecting the fragmented world with Sam Bridges. It involves delivering packages around the map while managing weight and uncovering about Sam and the world that he lives in.
You can think of the package delivery system as a pseudo-Santa life delivering ‘gifts’ across the world.
Currently, Death Stranding is available only for the PlayStation 4 but it will be coming to the Windows via Steam and Epic Store.
The last, but definitely not the least, is Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order puts you in between Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. It follows the Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis and his adventures as he is hunted by the Galactic Empire.
Gameplay-wise think more of a Dark Souls-like game but only with lightsabers and the force. This will definitely test your ability and patience making the holiday season the best time for it. The longer break from school or work gives you more time to ‘git gud’ and improve with the game and its mechanics.
