Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut Takes Jin Sakai To Iki Island

In anticipation of the one-year anniversary of SuckerPunch’s epic samurai tale, Ghost of Tsushima, the studio has announced Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut, a brand new edition of the game, with all content released so far in addition to a brand new story, new updates, and long-awaited features requested by the community! Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut on both PS5 and PS4 consoles on August 20, 2021.

 

 

 

Island Vibes 

 

SuckerPunch’s Communications Manager Andrew Goldfarb has also revealed through an official Playstation blog post that  a new expansion in the works which will be set in Iki, the neighboring island to Tsushima which was also invaded by the Mongols during the time period. The Iki Island Expansion will continue Jin Sakai’s story from the original game as he “…travels to the island to investigate rumors of a Mongol presence. But soon, he finds himself caught up in events with deeply personal stakes that will force him to relive some traumatic moments from his past.”

 

While the details regarding the expansion as sparse at the moment, SuckerPunch has stated that this new island also has a lot of new and unique content like exciting new locales to explore, new armor to put on, new tasks to fulfill,  techniques to learn, enemies to fight, and most importantly, new animals to pet!

 

Also for the completionists out there, Director’s Cut will also offer new Trophies to unlock for the new Iki content for both PS4 and PS5 platforms!

 

PS5 exclusive features

 

Speaking of the Playstation 5, the directors cut will have a few additional new features for players of the new console

First off, PS5 players of the Tsushima: Director’s Cut will be able to experience the much-awaited Japanese Lip Sync to fully complete the immersion when using the japanese voice over. 

 

PS5 Tsushima: Director’s Cut players will also be able to take advantage of the console’s advanced immersion features such haptic feedback, adaptive triggers and 3D Audio on Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, and the new Iki Island expansion!

The PS5 version of Tsushima: Director’s Cut also promises significantly “improved loading times, 4K resolution options and framerates targeting 60 FPS”. PS5 players can also transfer their save from the PS4 to immediately start right where they left off!

 

 

 

Other updates

 

Goldfarb also stated that all Ghost of Tsushima players regardless of platform or version, will receive a hefty patch with a whole host of quality of life upgrades such as new controller layout options, and enabling a target lock-on during combat!

 

Goldfarb also teased a new upcoming game mode and other exciting updates for the game’s multiplayer suite, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends which they plan to release details soon.

 

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut Pre-orders and upgrades

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will launch on August 20 for PHP3,490 on PS5 and PHP2,990 on PS4.

 

Pre-orders can be done digitally at the PlayStation Store or through various retailers for physical copies.

 

Pre-ordering at participating retailers entails various pre-order rewards such as a digital mini Ghost of Tsushima soundtrack featuring two new songs from the Iki Island update, and a digital Ghost of Tsushima art book and 10 new pieces of concept art from the Iki Island expansion

 

Additionally, if you pre-order from the Playstation Store before launch, you’ll gain access to the PS4 version of Tsushima and start your adventure at the soonest before the new stuff arrives in August!

 

If you already own Ghost of Tsushima on PS4 you can pre-order an upgrade to Director’s Cut on PS4 for PHP 984.48 on August 20.

 

From August 20 and beyond, if you bought Director’s Cut PS4,  you’ll also be able to upgrade to Director’s Cut on the PS5 for PHP 658.76

 

You can also upgrade directly from the original Ghost of Tsushima PS4 to the Director’s Cut on PS5 for PHP 1496.85

 

Additional details about upgrades will be available at PlayStation Store closer to launch!
