LOL Wild Rift, MLBB, PUBGM Among 8 Titles Chosen For 31th SEA Games Esports

The final list of esports titles to be included in the 31th South East Asian Games set to take place in Hanoi, Vietnam in November of this year has been announced! A total of 8 esports titles have been selected by the 31 Sea Games host country Vietnam namely: League of Legends: Wild Rift, Arena of Valor, PUBG Mobile, Free Fire, League of Legends, FIFA Online 4, Crossfire and Mobile Legends Bang Bang!  


The 31st SEA Games host country Vietnam, through their Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued the Decision No. 996/QĐ-BVHTTDL dated March 23th, 2021 detailing and enumerating the list of sports, subjects, and venue in the 31st SEA Games in which, the esports event has 8 titles to compete in and 10 sets of medals for teams to vie for.

Two of the titles will be separated into specialized divisions such as the Male and Female heat of LOL: Wild Rift and the Team and Individual heat of Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds Mobile.

The events are as follows:

  1. League of Legends: Wild Rift – Mobile (Male team).
  2. League of Legends: Wild Rift – Mobile (Female team).
  3. Arena of Valor – Mobile (Team).
  4. PUBG Mobile (Team).
  5. PUBG Mobile (Individual).
  6. Free fire – Mobile (Team).
  7. League of Legends – PC (Team).
  8. Fifa Online 4 – PC (Team).
  9. Crossfire – PC (Team).
  10. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang – Mobile (Team).


This will be the second time in SEA Games history that esports will be included in the competition—the first being the 2019 SEA Games held in Manila Philippines. The current titles selected vastly differ from the previous SEA Games esport event, most notably opting out of DOTA 2, Hearthstone, Tekken 7, and Starcraft II in which team our Philippine national esports team Sibol earned a combined total of 2 Gold Medals, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze. The Philippines also won the Gold Medal for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang that year which is also retained as a title this year 

Team Sibol is also poised to make a return to the SEA Game stage to compete in some if not all the events mentioned above. We’ll be keeping you posted on the details of Sibol’s return as soon as they are available. 

 

The 2021 Southeast Asian Games, commonly known as the 31st SEA Games, is scheduled to take place in the Vietnam National Convention Center in Hanoi, Vietnam from November 21st, 2021 to December 2nd, 2021. The historic event will feature 40 sports, mainly those played at the Olympic Games, and will be the second time in its history that esports will be included in the competition—the first being the 2019 SEA Games where the Philippines was the host. This is also the second time Vietnam has been a host country for SEA Games.
