In a stunning move, MPL newcomers Nexplay Solid decimated two-time champions Aura PH and dealt the team their second loss in the sixth season of the league.
NXP deployed a burst-heavy draft to snowball their damage potential in the early stages of Game 1. The boys in white and blue choked the M1 veterans of their resources and mounted enormous pressure at all lanes of the map. This inhibited Jaypee from achieving his power spike on Yi-Sun Shin, providing an opening for NXP’s attackers to easily snuff Aura PH’s heroes one by one. With the champs contained in the map, victory was inevitable for NXP.
Not wanting to let Aura survive the night, NXP outdrafted the M1 vets in Game 2 and took a page in Bren’s playbook by putting sufficient pressure at the side lanes. Moreover, the newcomers exploited the lack of physical defense in Aura’s heroes, allowing NXP to put a lid to Aura’s momentum on their way to the playoffs.
Meanwhile, season 5 runner-ups Onic PH faced off against Omega PH to maintain their position in the leaderboards. Onic respected Omega’s methodic plays and opted for an aggressive strategy to pummel the Dragons. Amid the numerous pickoffs dished by the boys in white, the SEAG veterans fought back and denied the S5 runner-ups of a bottom lane siege. However, a well-timed Lord kill gave Onic the drive they need to take Game 1 decisively.
While Omega attempted to clinch the series with a DPS-heavy draft, the deities of macro unveiled their cards and maintained their dominance in the map, as Onic hammers the final nail in Omega’s coffin, and ultimately, their streak in Season 6.
After seven long weeks of intense battles, the combatants for Season 6’s playoffs have been determined, and they are as follows:
There’s no better way to wrap up the regular season than with a destined battle between Aura PH and Onic PH. There is so much history between these two teams, and the boys in white are motivated than ever to unseat the two-time champions and claim what’s rightfully theirs.
