Nintendo Reveals the Switch OLED Model
Posted by Yuri Mangahas July 07, 2021

After months of rumors and speculations, Nintendo finally unveiled the latest upgrade to its flagship hybrid console, the Switch OLED model. The unit is expected to hit shelves on Oct. 8 – the same day that Samus Aran makes her side-scrolling return in Metroid Dread.

The Switch OLED model will feature a 7-inch screen with an organic LED display to produce vivid colors and crisp contrast. The unit also comes with an adjustable stand, 64 gigabytes of internal storage, a new dock with a wired LAN port, and upgraded audio features for handheld and tabletop playthroughs.

It will come in two color variants: a white model with a matching dock, and a variant with Switch’s trademark neon red and blue colors. Long-time Switch players may use their old Joy-Cons with the OLED model. The unit’s battery life is expected to run for roughly four to nine hours and is slightly heavier than the regular model. In contrast to rumors, however, the OLED model will not feature a new CPU, graphic processor unit, or additional RAM.

The Switch OLED model will go on sale for $350.
