Dead by Daylight, the biggest asymmetrical horror multiplayer from developer Behaviour, celebrated their fifth anniversary on Wednesday morning PST. As part of their celebration Behaviour announced a bevy of new and exciting things coming to the game, not the least of which is the highly-anticipated collaboration with Capcom’s hit survival game series Resident Evil!
The upcoming Resident Evil chapter will see not one but two survivors, STARS agents Jill Valentine and Leon S. Kennedy, as well as the lumbering Nemesis enter The Ritual.
Jill’s perks will lean towards her increased survivability as well as experience in dealing with stronger foes. Her perk Counterforce lets her tap into her knowledge breaking down a powerful enemy, as such she can 20% cleanse totems faster and after doing so, she is able to see the furthest totem for 2/3/4 seconds and gains a permanent 20% stackable cleansing speed bonus. Her Resurgence speaks of her resilience in surviving grave situations, it grants her a base 40/45/50% healing progress after being unhooked. Her Blast Mine, which unlocks after completing 66% of a generator, allows her to place a blast mine on a generator which lasts for 35/40/45 secs and explodes blinding and stunning the Killer when they try to damage the generator.
Leon’s Bite the Bullet hides his pain from others which keeps him silent while healing himself and other survivors. This also eliminates all sounds produce by failed healing checks and lessens failed healing regression to just 3/2/1 %. His Rookie Spirit which is activated by completing 5/4/3 good or great skill checks allows him to keep an eye on objectives, letting him see generators that are regressing. Finally, Leon’s Flashbang, which activates after completing a generator to allows him to enter a locker and craft a Flash grenade which will function like a cross between a firecracker, able to blind killers force them to let go of a survivor they might be carrying.
Arguably one of the most popular main antagonists in the Resident Evil franchise, Nemesis, will be making his way to Dead By Daylight as well. The Nemesis, as he will be known in the game, has a lot of unique mechanics that they’ll bring to The Ritual. Nemesis’ power is called T-Virus which gives him the special charged attack Tentacle Strike. When Tentacle Strike hits survivors it will Contaminate them with the T-Virus. If they are already Contaminated they will take damage. While Contaminated, survivors will cough and vomit making loud noises that make them easier to detect and track down. The number of people Contaminated will also make The Nemesis more powerful, allowing Tentacle Strike to destroy pallets and walls at Mutation Rate 2 and extending the range of their tentacles at Mutation Rate 3 . Contamination can be cleared by limited vaccines that spawn with The Nemesis.
That’s not the only thing that spawns with The Nemesis though, because what would a Resident Evil collaboration be without zombies? For the first time ever, Dead by Daylight will be introducing AI-controlled characters in the form of Resident Evil’s signature dead walkers. The zombies will roam the map and infect you with the T-virus as well as restrain you for a short amount of time.
The Resident Evil Chapter will also include a faithful recreation of the Racoon City Police Department as a new indoor map straight out of RE3 Remake!
The hour-long anniversary livestream also talked about the massive graphical overhaul to the game that’s been named The Realm Beyond; as well as still-in-development reworks to the Mori finisher system.
Behaviour also gave out the following codes for redemption of in-game rewards:
10 Rift Fragments: ANNIVERSARYFRAGMENTS
250,000 Blood Points: AD800947-01A7-4DEF-81AD-40DDC501DE50
The Dead By Daylight Resident Evil Chapter will release June 15 but players can already get a taste of the T-Virus on the Player Test Servers by right-clicking their DBD Application on Steam, going to Properties>Betas, and selecting the Player Test Build.
