Riot Games has just unveiled the Valorant Champions Tour, a season-long competition tour for its hit competitive character-based tactical shooter—VALORANT. The global tour is set to happen in 2021 and will feature competition legs in North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia until it crowns a single global Champion at the end of the year.

The groundbreaking new competition will have three stages:  Challengers, the regional starting block for aspiring competitors; Masters, three events wherein the top teams will compete for points to qualify for the next level; Champions, the final stage of the competition wherein the top sixteen teams in the world will battle it out to be the first-ever Valorant Champions Tour Global Champion.

The Valorant Championship Tour comes hot on the heels off the Valorant Ignition Series, and the ongoing Valorant First Strike tournament, set to conclude on December 3-6, which is a series of merit-based qualifiers across North America, Europe, CIS, Turkey, Asia, Oceania, Brazil, and the Middle Eastern the right to call themselves the first official regional VALORANT champions. The event will be broadcasted live on Twitch and other platforms.

Powering the Valorant Champions Tour and the First Strike Tournament are popular energy drink brand, Red Bull, and gaming chair juggernaut Secretlab. The two brands have been stalwarts and supports of esports as well as Riot Games and they are looking to play a vital role in the fast-growing Valorant ecosystem. Riot will be announcing more partners for the VALORANT Champions Tour in 2021.

Whalen Rozelle, Senior Director of Esports at Riot Games had this to say about the exciting new chapter of Valorant esports:

“The Champions Tour is our next step to grow VALORANT into a global esport worthy of the  passion of our fans. We’ve spent a couple of years now talking to players, teams, fans, prospective partners, and other stakeholders, and we’re extremely excited to launch our first official season. Our focus will be on elevating and showcasing the creative and talented players who are shaping this game across the globe. Fans and players both wanted high stakes competition, and that’s what the  VALORANT Champions Tour is designed to do.
