The Rainbow Six Siege Boardgame Trailer Makes Doc Look Like A Badass
Posted by Raphael Leynes June 16, 2021

Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege Year 6 reveal earlier this year, where the Montreal-based company, announced their upcoming plans for their tactical first-person shooter,  ended in an unexpected but curious fashion—with the announcement of a Rainbow Six Siege Boardgame by Mythical Games.

Months after the initial announcement, Mythical Games has finally unveiled a trailer for what we can expect with the game and we have to say, it actually looks and feels like Siege!

One thing that really stands out though, apart from the game being an accurate representation of the videogame, is that Team Six’s resident physician Doc is way more badass than his usual mild mannered self. Sure in Siege, Doc players are usually cracking out and going for spawn peaks at the start of the round but that’s nowhere near as cool as what Doc does in the board game trailer.

He starts off by taking out IQ from the rafters before dropping down and picking up Jaeger with his stim pistol. He then straight up jumps over a bar table and bulldozes over some rubble and pushes on the enemy team. Finally he pulls off a sick slide into cover, blind fires over and takes out Sledge before vaulting over and going for the defuse!

This Doc’s REALLY without borders

The game looks to incorporate many of Siege’s core mechanics that make the video game so dynamic and fun to play. Destructible Environments, setting-up the site, picking a point of entry and even the operator-specific abilities are all accounted for here.

Speaking of which, the Operators have always been the focal point of Siege’s gameplay and it’s good to see that this holds true with the boardgame. The roster of 20 Operators (10 Attackers and 10 Defenders) all effectively mirror their videogame counterparts and come with a custom operator card that details their signature abilities.

For example, Montagne can activate his Le Roc Shield to shrug off damage but will be unable to perform the Shoot action which is the game’s dice-based attack action. Doc on the other hand can use his Stim Pistol to remove damage from any teammate including himself! Other characters include IQ, Thatcher, Glaz  Ash, Blitz, Thermite, Twitch, Sledge, Kapkan, Jaeger, Smoke, Bandit, Rook, Castle, Mute, and lord Tachanka himself!

For an additional challenge, players will also be able to download the companion app which will serve as a chess timer of sorts for added pressure!
