There’s a Cobrai Kai Game and I Can Not Deal
Posted by Raphael Leynes November 06, 2020

You’ve read that right, there’s a game about Cobra Ka TV show called Cobra Kai: The Karate Kid Saga Continues—and it just came out on PS4, XBOX, and Nintendo Switch last week!

Cobra Kai is the sequel TV series to the 90’s hit Karate Kid franchise produced by Sony Pictures Television and airing exclusively on YouTube Red in 2018. As the premium subscription service struggled to catch on, many, including yours truly, overlooked the series as another echo of nostalgia from a bygone era.

However when Cobra Kai came to Netflix earlier this year, people, again including yours truly, found out that it’s actually pretty dang good. In both of its seasons so far, the show has managed to strike the perfect crane-like balance between a modern retelling and an homage to the franchise. I don’t know how they did it but Cobra Kai feels like a 90’s show but with modern sensibilities.

And now there’s a videogame of it. And it’s crazier than you’ve ever imagined.

Now you can beat your way up the streets of Los Angeles as Daniel Larusso and his students from Miyagi-do Karate or as Johnny Lawrence and the Cobra Kai. You play through a unique campaign for each Dojo seeing the completely original story from their side of the fence. You can also unlock the amazingly named Ultimate Ending by playing through both sides!

Oh and it gets better: NOW WE GOT ELEMENTAL POWERS! If you thought that the grounded, character-drama franchise always needed some good old fashioned flaming uppercuts and freezing axe kicks then Cobra Kai: The Karate Kid Saga Continues has answered your prayers. The game comes complete with power-ups, skill trees, and a full-blown RPG progression system to upgrade and customize your characters with. And, yes, you can do the Crane.

Just as well as a well-off automobile tycoon could anyway.

Cobra KAI is now available for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Cobra Kai will be available on the PC via Epic Game Store and Steam in January 2021
