SEA Games 2019: Caviar Napoleon Acampado of Sibol Secures Gold Medal in StarCraft II Esports Event
Posted by cmsadminGG December 10, 2019

Caviar Napoleon Acampado, or more popularly known as EnDerr, of the Philippine Sibol national team is yet another of the country’s athletes that have claimed gold at the 30th Southeast Asian Games. Acampado was able to secure the gold medal of the StarCraft II esports event after besting his grand finals opponent Singaporean Thomas Kopankiewicz in a dominating 4-1 match.

Acampado began his run in the StarCraft II esports event with a dominating 5-0 finish in the group stage. He then bested one of his rivals, Hong Phuc Tran of Vietnam, in a close 3-2 upper bracket finals to secure the first spot in the grand finals.

The grand finals would begin with Acampado winning two straight wins against Kopankiewicz in the best-of-seven series but the latter would clinch the third game to put himself on the scoreboard. Kopankiewicz’s hopes for a comeback would be put to a quick halt though as Acampado followed up with two straight wins to close out the series 4-1.

Acampado’s gold medal finish in the StarCraft II event is the third gold medal for the Philippines in the 2019 SEA Games esports events, with the first and second coming from his fellow Sibol national team members in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Dota events.

The 27-year-old StarCraft veteran has been playing the real-time strategy video game competitively since he was 12 years old and is known to be one of the best players in the region.

Acampado is one of the many members of the Sibol national team of the Philippines, which also includes competitors in the other esports events of the 2019 SEA Games, including Hearthstone, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Dota 2, Arena of Valor, and Tekken 7.

Acampado’s win secures the third gold medal for the Philippines in the Esports event of the 30th SEA Games.
