CES is upon us once again and this time, ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) announced today its new lineup of gaming laptops, monitors, and peripherals during their For Those Who Dare virtual launch event.
The highlight of the event? A cavalry of gaming laptops for all kinds of gamers and content creators—namely the TUF Dash F15, the ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE, ROG Strix SCAR 15 & 17, and ROG Flow X13 with an external GPU.
ASUS introduced a new TUF gaming laptop dubbed “TUF Dash F15”, a 15-inch notebook powered by the latest 11th-Gen Intel Tiger Lake CPU and the latest generation of GeForce RTX GPUs.
ASUS managed to make esports-ready specs at accessible price points with a 144Hz refresh rate display, Thunderbolt 4, and a two-way AI Noise Cancelation technology.
If this is what an accessible, budget gaming laptop looks like, then this one is a TUF act to follow.
Who We Think It’s For: Esports enthusiasts on a budget, up-and-coming gaming content creators
Coming off its head-turning arrival last year, the ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE is making its comeback this year. The dual-screen laptop is powered by the latest AMD Ryzen 9 CPU and GeForce RTX GPU. Its AAS Plus cooling system sports redesigned fans that dissipates up to 165W TDP.
You can choose between a 4K, 120Hz panel display or a whopping 300Hz, Full HD (1080p) display for that extra advantage in esports titles.
The screen gets an upgraded 15.6-inch display alongside the secondary, touch-enabled 14.1″ screen.
Who We Think It’s For: Serious gaming content creators who edit their own clips, graphic designers, people who can’t get enough of screens
The ROG Strix SCAR 15 & 17 makes its return in 2021 and they’re getting stronger each year. This line boasts having one of the fastest displays on a laptop with up to 300Hz refresh rates and 3ms response time.
Powering these bad boys are the next-gen Ryzen mobile CPUs and the latest GeForce RTX GPUs. The latest SCAR will offer an optical-mechanical keyboard for that tactile and agile feel.
Who We Think It’s For: Gamers who like to PERFORM (and win big)
The most interesting laptop ASUS has launched at CES 2021 so far is the new ROG Flow X13—a 13-inch ultraportable gaming laptop juiced up by an AMD Ryzen 9 5980HS mobile processor and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card. You might be wondering, how are you going to play Cyberpunk 2077 on a GeForce GTX 1650? More on that later.
In spirit, this laptop is a 2-in-1 that allows its 120Hz, Full HD (or 4K) display to be flipped, with support for touch and stylus input. Both choices of display have a 16:10 aspect ratio with Adaptive Sync support, and Pantone Validated for those who are meticulous with color accuracy.
Should gamers need an extra graphics boost, the Flow X13 can also be paired with the XG Mobile, ASUS ROG’s very own external GPU with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card. The eGPU is connected to a proprietary port on the laptop that dedicates 63 Gbps of bandwidth just for graphics, which is significantly higher than what Thunderbolt eGPUs provide.
Who We Think It’s For: People who are office professionals by day, hardcore gamers by night
According to ASUS ROG Philippines, they will be announcing their first set of Cezanne-powered laptops by end of January 2021.
